Learn about Gaylord Nelson’s commitment to social justice and environmental sustainability. The exhibit traces his life and legacy, starting with his childhood in the north woods all the way through his political career, first as governor and then as U.S. senator for the state of Wisconsin. The exhibit also details Nelson’s life after his political career as an advocate for environmental responsibility and reform.

Both exhibits are a cooperative venture of the Wisconsin Historical Society; the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies at the University of Wisconsin–Madison; the Center for Culture, History and the Environment (CHE); and the Nelson Family.
